GENEVIEVE FRANK
human participant in life
Artist Statement
I’m a multimedia artist, with a few special connections to ceramics, photography, and painting. I have a fascination with the connection between the physical mechanisms of the human brain and the more-so metaphysical experience of a conscious self and life, and the greater implications of this on the idea of community. The process of creating allows me moments of quiet existence as I live within so much complexity and curiosity. A moment of utter peace that yet creates such catharsis. This experience I’m able to hold produces very ambiguous pieces, pieces I hope force the viewer to insert their own perspectives and experiences in order to create an active relationship of interpretation with these pieces. In this way, I hope to instill new thoughts on how our preconceptions create our selves, our experiences as we move through this collective reality we all create together. I aim above all to orchestrate experiences to encourage viewers to become participants, investigating in new ways the way they move through life without force-feeding these intentions through a specific narrative.
