2.1.21

I’ve been thinking a lot about the fact that I’m left handed. Because, first and foremost, I’m fairly ambidextrous, and absolutely believe that as a child I decided to use my left hand so that I would continue to be special and impress people. Kind of like when I’d draw pictures, and the people on the left would have their speech bubble’s words written normally, and on the right the letters would be mirrored back in response.

But now I think about the fact that the left hand is associated with the divine feminine energy, with receiving energy, with thinking and creativity. And that which hands you’re using correlate to different hemispheres of the brain. Left-handed people are directly correlating nearly every action to the half of the brain that aligns more closely to emotions than logic.

They’re also statistically shown to have more emotional reactions. To be more likely to suffer from PTSD- in fact, during a study where they were watching a horror film (Silence of the Lambs?), for a mere seven minutes I believe, they showed reactionary signs similar to PTSD, unlike most of their right-handed counterparts. When looking up inner child healing, if you buy into that, you’re told to journal with your left hand to connect more directly to your inner child over your logic.

Maybe my determination to be special as a child is why I cry so damn easily. Which isn’t cute when you’re in a fight. Probably the biggest downfall.

Anyway, left-handed people are also more likely to die in a car accident by swerving into oncoming traffic. And to injure themselves when they’re old with dumb shit like opening a refrigerator door with their left hand and knocking themselves down.
